I recently finished one month of microdosing LSD (‘acid’) every 4th day, ie: dose on Monday, off Tuesday and Wednesday, dose on Thursday, off Friday and Saturday, and so on.
Each dose was approximately 12-15 micrograms (about 1/10th of a regular single ‘hit’). In this post I’d like to share my own experience, observations and suggestions. But before we get into that let’s look at what microdosing is all about and what some of the benefits are.
The Benefits of Microdosing
Although there hasn’t been a lot of research related to microdosing psychedelics, there is sufficient research on how larger doses affect the brain to make an argument for the potential benefits of sub-perceptual doses. There are also plenty of anecdotal accounts of the benefits of microdosing.
Both psilocybin (from ‘magic mushrooms’) and LSD share a very similar molecular structure to serotonin, which is one of the brain’s ‘feel good’ neurotransmitters / hormones.

Some of the benefits experienced by those who have used sub-perceptual microdoses of psychedelics (myself included) include:
- Heightened awareness
- Increased creativity
- Reduced anxiety
- Better mood
- A sense of being more ‘present’
- Greater productivity
Some studies also suggest that psychedelic use expands communication within the brains neural network and may even encourage neurogenesis (which is the growth and development of new brain cells). This is pretty epic research related to maintaining and improving brain health!
In this video I briefly describe my own experience with microdosing:
The benefits I experienced can be compared to the feeling of being in the ‘zone’ or in a ‘flow’ or ‘flow state’. I felt more calm and focused and found it easier to concentrate. It would seem that occasionally and intermittently ingesting sub-perceptual doses of psychedelics can shift your brain into a more regular state of flow.
After taking several weeks off I decided to repeat the microdose month experiment, but this time I’ve resolved to incorporate daily meditation, better sleep habits, and keep a journal of my observations. I also used the volumetric approach, dissolving the acid in distilled water with a little vodka added for preservation. I dosed approx 12 ug every other day for about one month. This video describes how I set it up:
I hope you found this post interesting and informative. If this is something you are interested in trying yourself I do suggest you do more research, ensure you can trust the source of your LSD or psilocybin, start with a sufficiently low dose, and keep a journal of the effects you notice.
Until next time, Stay awake!
